Podcast Origin Story

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Duvalier Malone had a moment of awakening. He noticed how the voices of everyday people were being drowned out, truth overshadowed by noise, and fake news and trivial stories gaining undue attention. This led him to create "Those Who Give A Damn," a platform dedicated to amplifying those voices that seek to speak truth to power, ensuring they are both heard and seen.

Champion of Food Justice and Racial Equity

We are delighted to spotlight Mya Price, a dedicated researcher based in Washington, D.C., whose work is at the forefront of addressing racial equity and food justice. Mya's groundbreaking research delves into the socioeconomic factors that exacerbate the Black–white food insecurity gap across both state and county levels in the United States. Through her qualitative studies, Mya has also illuminated the specific challenges older Black adults encounter in accessing food resources within U.S. metropolitan areas.

Her work is critical in understanding and addressing the root causes of food insecurity, aiming to bridge the gap and ensure equitable access to food for all, particularly within marginalized communities. Mya's commitment to social justice and equity is a beacon of hope and change in the fight against food insecurity and racial disparities.

Pauline Rogers

Advocate for Change

We're excited to welcome Pauline Rogers, the heart and soul behind the Reaching & Educating for Community Hope (RECH) Foundation, as our next guest. Residing in Jackson, Mississippi, Pauline co-founded RECH with her husband, both of whom have experienced the realities of incarceration. Since its inception in 1987 and official establishment in 2006, RECH has been pivotal in providing transitional housing for women exiting prison, driven by Pauline's firsthand insights into the criminal justice system's challenges.

Her journey with the RECH Foundation reflects a deep commitment to criminal justice reform and supporting those impacted by incarceration. Joining CLI has enabled Pauline to expand her advocacy, emphasizing the importance of understanding, respect, and support for formerly incarcerated women and their families.

Robert C. White, Jr.

First Director of Community Outreach for the DC Office of the Attorney General

Councilmember White is committed to being a strong and fair voice for the residents of his beloved home town.

A proud fifth generation Washingtonian, Robert C. White, Jr. is in his second term as At-Large Member of the Council of the District of Columbia. He chairs the Council’s Committee on Housing.

Robert began his career in public service as a law clerk in the Maryland District Court for Montgomery County. For five years, he worked in the United States Congress, serving as Legislative Counsel to the District’s Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. In 2014, he was tapped by Attorney General Karl A. Racine to serve as the first Director of Community Outreach for the DC Office of the Attorney General. In 2016, Robert was elected as an at-large Councilmember with the highest number of votes in the history of DC’s elected Council. He was re-elected in 2020.

Robert and his wife, Christy, an attorney with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, reside in Ward 4 with their daughters, Madison and Monroe, and rescue pit bull, Roscoe. They attend St. Martin’s Catholic Church. Robert loves spending time with his family, reading, and riding his motorcycle.
